PRIVATE POLICY

Michael Culture (Registration number 890 53.9 479) is an international non-profit making association, registered under Belgian law with our main office at c/o Burotel Rue de la Presse 4, 1000 Brussels and our operational and administrative office at 38 rue de Trévise, 75009 Paris.

Michael Culture brings together legal entities - private and publics institutions. It aims at:

• Promoting and valorising European cultural heritage by its digitization and dissemination to a European and worldwide audience,

• Enhancing the network of European professionals working on digital cultural heritage, through the actions towards its network including the MINERVA Network.


Its activities are:

• Support and development of the transmission and exchange of information, particularly via projects, publications, conferences and events;

• Research and training on related subjects;

• Networking and participation in European and international projects.

• Policy/Advocacy

• Developing the use of DCH in Culture and Heritage, Education, Tourism areas.

• Management of Museum-Hub supporting European Museums in publishing their data on Europeana


Michael Culture is a network of members and partners that support our mission. To keep our network informed about our activities, European policies, events, news that could be relevant, we keep a database of stakeholders. Your integrity is important to us and we aim to protect it by our privacy policy and according to the General data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Please read the following information carefully to understand our policies and practices regarding your personal data and how we treat it.


Principles and rights of data subject

Any personal data you provide is processed in compliance with relevant EU and national data protection laws. Michael Culture relies on the following principles regarding personal data protection.

Lawfulness, fairness and transparency: Michael Culture collects personal data from newsletter subscribers and persons interested in the events it organizes. Data collection and processing is based on data subject’s consent. We obtain data directly from you when you subscribe to our newsletter(s) and/or register to attend event we host.

Purpose limitation: Personal data is obtained and processed only for specified, explicit and legitimate purposes which are subscription to our newsletter and/or registration to our events.

Data minimization and storage limitation: Only personal data that is required for the purposes is collected and processed (first name, last name, organization, country and email). Data is stored for only as long as it is required for the purposes for which it was collected. Personal data may be retained in order to comply with applicable laws, regulations and professional obligations that we are subject to.

Accuracy. Data collected by Michael Culture is accurate. Data subjects should have the opportunity of updating their data.

Integrity and confidentiality. Data is processed in a way that guarantees its security.

Persons whose personal data is collected and processed by Michael Culture have the following rights:

right to request access to their personal data
right to request rectification of any errors in the personal data to ensure its accuracy
the right to request erasure of their personal data
right to request restriction of the future processing of personal data, or to object to its processing
the right of data portability - upon request MC will provide the person with a copy of all data we have regarding the person in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format
right to withdraw the consent to process data at any time
the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, such as the national data protection authority.
Sharing personal data with third parties

We share email addresses of our subscribers with Mailchimp, our current email service provider. Mailchimp has confirmed that they will be fully compliant with all aspects of GDPR by 25 May 2018. We will, in addition, update our privacy policy according to the law and adapt our data collection tools by that date.

We share personal data with the European Commission when we are required by them to do so in relation to our work with them on EC funded FP7, H2020, CEF and ERasmus+ projects.

Data security

We have implemented appropriate technical and organisational security measures to protect personal data from loss, misuse, alteration or destruction. We aim to ensure that access to your personal data is password protected. Employees who have access to the data are required to maintain the confidentiality of such information. We install and regularly update all security and anti-virus software.
